The Float Concept Photos
The Pyatt River, in The Float, was patterned after the Arkansas Buffalo River, which cuts through the Ozark Mountains for 153 miles. In 1972, the river and the surrounding 36,000 acres was designated the first National River in the United States. It is one of the few remaining free-flowing rivers in the lower forty-eight states. And as far as the park rangers have been able to determine, it remains baboon-free. These photos were taken in April, the same time period as in The Float.

In The Float, Wild Bill's Outfitters in Osage would have looked something like this, fun places to look around, and where you can set up your shuttle.

One of dozens of riverside campgrounds at the Pettigrew Campgrounds. Literally feet from the river, but on a bluff, so there's no fear of flooding. Donald dove off the bluff here to escape the baboons.

The Dewey, Arkansas, bridge, the last stop of the float for what remained of the canoe club. Donald, Paula and Davie scrambled up the hill while Jake and Doc fought off the baboons.
